Ulster Bank GAA Force

Congratulations to all five club winners of Ulster Bank GAA Force 2011, we know the support packages will be put to great use.

The winners are:

  • National Winner - St Josephs GFC, Ederney, Fermanagh
  • Ulster Winner - Sean Dolan's GAC, Derry
  • Munster Winner - Lattin Cullen GAA Club, Tipperary
  • Leinster Winner - St. Joesph's/OCB GAA Club, Dublin
  • Connaught Winner - Kilglass Gaels GAA Club, Roscommon

The national winner won a support package worth €25,000/£22,000. Each of the provincial winners won support packages worth €5000/£4,400.

Congratulations also go to the first 100 clubs who signed up for the Ulster Bank GAA Force weekend, you can view these clubs here. They will receive a €100/£100 support package to help them make the most of their weekend.

National Winner - St Joseph’s Ederney, Co. Fermanagh

St Joseph’s Ederney is very active in the local community hosting the annual community festival and providing a sports facility for the local school.

They plan to upgrade their existing club facilities, including painting interior and exterior, re-tiling the floor, providing new doors and architraves and installing new sanitary ware to all toilets. They are hoping to convert their changing rooms to cater for ladies as well as have better facilities available to visiting teams.

Ulster Winner - Sean Dolan's GAC, Co. Derry

Sean Dolan’s GAC is the oldest club in Derry city. It revolves around the community providing a nursery for parents and enables members to make a positive contribution and give something back to society.

The club encourages five principles: Equality, Diversity, Interdependence, Responsibility and Non-violence. The club hopes to give their all weather training area a face lift which has been unusable for some time. A club makeover will positively impact the personal development of children, it will enhance the limited resources for youth available in the area, develop games and culture as well as develop physical, emotional and social skills for youths.

Munster Winner - Lattin Cullen, Co. Tipperary

Lattin Cullen hosts numerous other community activities such as cake sales, concerts and cards with tea and homemade goodies provided free of charge.

With the assistance of the Ulster Bank GAA Force support package the club can now carry out some painting and re wiring and install some presses in the kitchen area.

Connaught Winner - Kilglass Gaels, Co. Roscommon

Kilglass Gaels describes itself as the heartbeat of the community as there are no similar social or recreational outlets in the Parish and the club premises is used by all of the wider community for their activities.

The club has faced fundraising problems with the closing of factories and businesses in the vicinity and wish to provide public and disabled toilet facilities in the complex to extend its overall usage.

Leinster Winner - St Joseph’s/OCB GAA Club, Seville Place, Dublin 1

St Joseph’s/OCB GAA Club is the only remaining club in the North Inner City. It has been involved in a renovation project since 2008 and with the aid of Ulster Bank GAA Force it can now help see this through to completion.

The club wishes to provide pre and post match facilities for its members with meeting and recreational facilities. The club attracts members from all across North Inner City Dublin. The club is hosting their GAA Force day on Saturday 5th November with some painting planned in their club facilities.
