How did you first get involved in playing GAA Football?
I joined a club in London called Tir Connal Gaels.
What is your earliest memory of playing with your local club?
Coming over from London and playing for the summers.
How much of an influence did your club and club members have on
you?
They had a huge influence and the fact my dad was involved with the club and trained me from a young age helped keep me focused.
How important do you think your GAA club is to your community?
Being from a small club it’s very important because its what brings everyone together.
When did you make your county debut?
Played minor in 2003, in 2004 I made my senior debut and in 2005 I played in the all Ireland final against Tyrone.
What’s your match day ritual?
It’s not much of a ritual because it depends on what time the game is starting, but I like to get up at
8am, have my breakfast and then go back to bed for another hour or two…
What is the most memorable match you’ve played in?
The 2009 All Ireland against Cork - to beat our biggest rivals in the final and to captain the team was something special.
Who out of all the football GAA players is the most
inspirational to you?
I’m torn between Colm cooper and Declan o Sullivan I just think they’re the most natural gifted in the game and everything they do just looks so effortless.
What is your number one tip for prospective players?
Practice that’s what it all comes down too, whoever is willing to put in the most effort gets the biggest rewards.
What’s the best thing about playing for your county?
Pulling on the green and gold jersey.
How long have you been working in Ulster Bank?
Three and a half years now
What is your favourite venue to play in?
I love Fitzgerald stadium on Munster final day against cork but its hard to beat a packed croke park in September so I’ll have to go with croke park
What’s the toughest part of the championship?
Waiting for the games, its very hard waiting for 4 weeks after a big win.
What’s the best thing about playing for your county?
Throwing on the jersey and getting to play with some of the best footballers in the country!
