Who is your sporting hero?
Brian Corcoran.
How do you combine work and playing/training?
With a lot of difficulty, I suppose you just give up a lot of free time when the season kicks off.
What’s your number one training tip?
Even though I’ve heard it before somewhere, my training tip would be “always train as if you are second best” if you think a fella is going to get the better of you or if you think a guy is going to take your place you also find a little extra from somewhere.
What do you enjoy/hate the most about pre-season training?
Do people actually enjoy it? I hate the wind, rain, muck, long running, cold showers, and Sean Óg’s tights!!! There are some things men should avoid!!!
When did you make your county debut?
NHL vs Derry in 2002, Championship vs Limerick the same year
What’s the most memorable match you’ve played in?
2003 Munster hurling final vs Waterford (Cork won that day!!)
What, if any, other sports do you play?
Football, and very, very, very bad golf.
Tell us one thing people might not know about you?
I played for 12 championship teams in one year. Between hurling, football and colleges at various grades.
How long have you been working for Ulster Bank?
Since June 2007
What’s the best thing about playing for your county?
The support you get on big match days and winning, obviously.
What’s your favourite away venue and why?
Thurles; It’s probably the best playing surface for hurling in the country and the atmosphere at the games is also good.
Who have your toughest opponents been?
They’re all tough these days; different players have different strengths so you have to be on top of your game to compete.
Who’s the best player you’ve played with/against?
Brian Corcoran.
What is your motto in life?
I don’t have a motto really; I don’t have time to be thinking about life that much!! I’ll make one up… Life is like a box of chocolates, the more I eat the harder it’ll be to catch Michael Fennelly in the summer…
