Who is your sporting hero?
Muhammad Ali.

How do you combine work and playing/training?
Its really like having 2 jobs. It can be very hard and stressful. You come home from work some evenings exhausted and within an hour you’re rushing back out the door for training. One huge advantage with work is there is no physical aspect to it. Ulster Bank are very flexible during work hours if you need to see the Physio, Doctor etc. Having a pleasant work force that have an interest in the GAA and an understanding of the time and effort that goes into training, also eases the pressures. Nights of training is always taken into account by my managers if I have to work away from base that day.

What’s your number one training tip?
100% effort 100% of the time (old popular saying)
Get the most out of training for yourself and concentrate on your weaknesses. What you put into training is dependant on your own attitude.

What do you enjoy/hate the most about pre-season training?

Enjoys - Enjoyment of everyone being back together, having a laugh etc.
Hates - The pain of trying to get back fit and getting sick.

When did you make your county debut?
League: Kilkenny vs Antrim 2006.
Championship: Kilkenny vs Wexford Leinster Final 2006.

What’s the most memorable match you’ve played in?
Club All Ireland Championship 2007
Ballyhale Shamrocks vs Loughrea

What, if any, other sports do you play?
Golf - but don’t find much time to play it now.

Tell us one thing people might not know about you?

Unbelievably funny.

How long have you been working for Ulster Bank?

Since January 2008.

What’s the best thing about playing for your county?
You’re not only representing yourself but your club and family. You get the privilege to play with the top players in your county at the highest level and also play against the top teams in Ireland.

What’s your favourite away venue and why?
I would have to say Croke Park. I’ve never experienced anything like it before and hopefully will get the opportunity to play there for the coming years.

Who have your toughest opponents been?

Every game is always tough no matter whom you play but the strongest opponents would have to be Cork and Galway for their skill and speed.

Who’s the best player you’ve played with/against?
Henry Shefflin - by far the most skilful and most dedicated player. A very talented individual and is an excellent team player.

What is your motto in life?
You can not predict what the future holds for you. Take everyday as it comes and always keep your feet on the ground. Take every opportunity with both hands. You can make your own luck at times.
